Bukit Bintang Monorail Station
About the Station
Opened on 31 August 2003, Bukit Bintang Monorail Station is an elevated
monorail station that forms a part of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail Line. The
Station is named after Bukit Bintang district, a shopping hub in Kuala
Lumpur.
The name "Bukit Bintang" when translated from Malay to English is known as
"Star Hill". Erected over Jalan Sultan Ismail, the station is located
directly south from the Jalan Sultan Ismail - Jalan Bukit Bintang
intersection.
The station has three exits: The northwest exit leads to the west side of
Jalan Sultan Ismail, while the southwest and southeast exists directly lead
into the BB Plaza and Lot 10 shopping centers, respectively, via pedestrian
bridges. Similar to the nearby Imbi Station, the
Bukit Bintang Station is also directly within walking distance from various
other shopping centers (including the Starhill Gallery, Low Yat Plaza, KL
Pavilion, Farrenheit 88, Lot10, Imbi Plaza and Sungei Wang Plaza).
The Bukit Bintang Station is one of the most heavily used stations along the
KL Monorail Line due to its proximity to Bukit Bintang major landmarks. The
station is also the only Kuala Lumpur Monorail to include an overhead link
bridge that directly connects its two train platforms. The length of the
platform is longer in comparison with other KL Monorail stations.
Bukit Bintang MRT Station
(MRT Kajang Line) and Bukit Bintang Monorail Station are in the strict
sense, two distinct stations, although both originally had the same names
(now distinct with the new branding). Paid zone-to-paid zone integration
between the two is proposed but not observable at the moment.

Platform Architecture
Bukit Bintang Monorail Station's layout is different from other KL
Monorail
Line stations. The Station
has three levels: The access points at street level, and the ticket area and
adjoining platforms on two elevated levels. All levels are linked via
stairways, escalators and elevators designated for disabled passengers. The
Station is also the only Kuala Lumpur Monorail station to include an
overhead link bridge that directly connects its two train platforms, instead
of a link under the monorail platforms and track. The station's length is
also longer in comparison with certain KL Monorail stations.
The Station's side platform is used by trains travelling at
either direction of the line, and is entirely sheltered by roofs.
