Attractions Around Taman Pertama MRT Station

The Cheras Christian Cemetery is the largest Christian Cemetery in Malaysia and it is located around 500 meter away from this MRT Station. The Cemetery was opened on 1900 and located in its vicinity is Cheras War Cemetery, place where Allied personnel who perished in Malaya during the Second World War are buried.

Servicemen who died after the war or during their posting in northern Malaya prior to the Malayan Emergency are also interred here. Cheras War Cemetery was erected and maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Notable burials here is Sir Henry Gurney's (27 June 1898 - 6 October 1951) grave, British High Commissioner in Malaya. Gurney was killed by communist insurgents during the Malayan Emergency.

Cheras Christian Cemetery also serves as the burial ground for prisoners of war who died at Pudu Jail and other places of incarceration.
